DiviEDD Child Theme

Install the Divi theme

DiviEDD is a child theme for Divi. Thus, you have to have the Divi theme already installed on your self-hosted WordPress website.

To install Divi:

  • Login to your WordPress admin dashboard
  • Click on the “appearance” option in the menu on the left
  • Your window should look like the one below
  • Click on the “add new” button at the top of the page, and your window will look like the one below.
  • Click “upload theme” and select the Divi.zip file you should already have. Wait for the process to finish.

    Installing the DiviEDD child theme

After installing the Divi theme, install DiviEDD following these steps:

    • Click on the “add new” button at the top of the page, and your window will look like the one below.
    • Click “upload theme” and select the diviedd-sapphirin-childtheme.zip file (you can download this from your Sapphirin account page). Wait for the process to finish.

    Activate your Sapphirin license

On purchasing any of our child themes, you will be given a license key which you can find on your account page >> licenses. On your WordPress dashboard, navigate to the “appearance” option in the menu.

    • Among the sub-menu items under “appearance”, click on “theme license” (this is where you will input the license for your DiviEDD child theme.
    • Copy and paste your license key into the input box and click “activate”. Click on “activate” again and click “save changes”.

    Install the required plugins

The DiviEDD theme comes with inbuilt support for many plugins. This means that when you install such plugins, the pages are generated automatically, and sections from their shortcodes will be fully styled to fit your theme.

    • On the menu in your WordPress admin dashboard, click on the “DiviEDD Child Theme” option. The first tab gives you a list of the supported plugins, a link to the child theme demo, and more details on what will be included in the child theme demo content. Although the list contains a number of plugins, the notification at the top of your WordPress dashboard only lists the core plugins required to launch your store. (You should go to “plugins” >> “add new” to search for these additional plugins and install them as some of the demo content specific to the said plugins will not be imported without their plugins installed.)
    • On the top of your WordPress admin dashboard, click on “begin installing required plugins”. You can also find this page by going to “appearance” >> “install plugins”. Your window should now look like this.

If you want your site to look exactly like that in the demo, installing all the required plugins is essential. If you do not install the required plugins, you will not have all the demo content. Our child theme utilizes the One Click Demo Import plugin to import the demo content into your site. Therefore, even if you do not want to use all the required plugins but want the customizer settings and the demo widgets, please tick the One Click Demo Import plugin install and activate it.

    • Tick the required plugins to be installed, click “install”.
    • After installing, click “return to plugins page” to activate the plugins. Tick the plugins and click on “activate”. If you only want the customizer settings and the widgets, read about installing them here.

    Check your demo installations

Our child theme uses third-party tools to upload your demo content so, as much as we have carefully hand-crafted the child theme, there can be errors in importing your demo content. Check your pages, menus, widgets, and posts if they look like those on the demo site. If not, please feel free to reach out to us as soon as possible.

    Customize your child theme

Our child theme comes power-packed with several color settings, page settings, and even a wp-login editor, all of which you will not find on other child themes. Divi is a powerful theme, but we built this child theme so that everyone can be able to explore the theme without certain delays, such as setting global font sizes for devices, headings, and so forth. The idea is to set them once on the customizer and enjoy a beautiful uniform website in a few minutes.

On your WordPress admin dashboard navigate to the theme customizer by “apperance” >> “customize” or “Divi” >> “theme customizer”.

Reassign the Divi theme builder templates

Possibly, your demo content might not include the Divi theme builder templates, or they might not be assigned to the correct categories, pages, archives, etc.

If you do not see any templates in the Divi theme builder templates and your window looks like this, follow these steps to set them up.
On your Sapphirin account page, view the downloads available for the DiviEDD purchase. Download the “DiviEDD extras.zip” file and unpack it.

    • Click on the icon shown below.
    • Go to the “import” tab.
    • Click on the input box to open your directory and choose the “DiviEDD-builder-templates.json” file. Click “import”.

Use this cross-section of the various assignments required to make your website look exactly like the one in the demo. (Feel free to reach out to us for assistance if you have any issues with this.)
